What is a vinyl decal?

All the decals are made using a vinyl plotter or cutter. The design or logo is cut into a sheet of colored vinyl using a swivel knife that moves back and forth on plotted lines translated by the machine into the design shape. We then add a layer of transfer tape (the clear or translucent part) that becomes useful in applying your decal.

What does die-cut decal mean?

Die-cut, meaning, there is no background, the color is all that exists. The surface of whatever you apply it to is the background eg. car window, laptop, snowmobile.

How does sizing work?

The sizes listed on each decal product page refer to the longest dimension of the decal. If the width of the decal is wider than the height the size will refer to the width and vice versa.

How long can my decal last?

We use an industry leading high performance vinyl that is rated as a 6 year vinyl. Lots of factors can play into the longevity of your decal such as extreme temperatures(hot & cold), chemicals etc. Many times the decal will last longer than what it is rated for, especially on indoor applications.

Can I install the decals myself?

A handy person with proper instructions can install moderately sized Vinyl Decals. When installing decals larger than truck door- sized, it is suggested that an adequately experienced person do the installation.

Please keep in mind that we will only warranty decals that have been determined to come from a defective lot of material. All other adhesion or installation related problems are assumed to be the fault of improper conditions or other installer related error. Once the Decal touches the glass or paint it is very difficult to remove without damaging the vinyl! SO BE PATIENT AND TAKE YOUR TIME!!!!

Can I apply my decal on fresh paint?

We strongly suggest you wait at least 45-60 days after painting a surface before applying any decal, because should you ever wish to remove the decal the paint will come off with it if the paint is not properly cured before application.

Cleaning the application surface?

Make sure the intended surface where decal will be applied is free of dirt, dust and wax. Use cleaners such as Windex or other window cleaners(if ammonia based rinse and dry with water after cleaning) or we recommend 1 part isopropyl or rubbing alcohol or to 5 parts mixture of water.

Soap and water can also be used. No matter which method you choose just try to get the surface as clean as possible as any dust, dirt or wax Could cause problems with the vinyl sticking or could cause small little bubbles under the vinyl.

If you use rainx, try formula 409 to remove it. Once the surface has been cleaned take a lint free towel and wipe down any extra liquid. These decals come to you in three layers. The top layer is called transfer tape. It looks somewhat like regular masking tape. The middle layer is the actual decal. The bottom layer is a backing paper that the decal will peel off of once applied to the surface.

Since our decals are adhesive based it highly recommendable to apply your decals in a temperature over 50 degrees Fahrenheit, if you are needing to warm up the area a blow dryer or heat gun will work perfectly.

Will my windshield wipers harm my decal?

No, windshield wipers should not harm your decals but is a possibility. As long as you cleaned your surface prior to applying your decal, then the decal should have no reason to not be securely adhered to your surface.

Will the rear window defroster harm my decal?

No, it does not get hot enough to harm your decals.

How can I keep my decal looking good?

Keeping the decals looking good is simple. Wash them with the car, do not use any harsh chemicals or solvents on them. Wax over the decals when possible, and if installing a decal on a vehicle window, be careful when using an ice scraper in the winter!

Will my decal harm the tint on my windows?

No, window tint will not be harmed by the decals.

Will my decal harm the paint on my vehicle?

No your decals will not harm the painted surface of your vehicle. Note that decals protect the finish of the vehicle's paint or glass surface underneath the decal. If decals are left on the vehicle for long periods of time (after years of outdoor exposure), the exposed paint on the vehicle will fade slightly, while the paint under the decal will not. This will cause a shadow effect once the decal is removed. You can help avoid this by maintaining the paint on your vehicle with wax!

What if I have air bubbles after installing my decal?

The bubble effect can happen when decals are applied and is not uncommon. Once the decals have been applied, you might find that you have small air bubbles between the decal and the vehicle surface. Most smaller bubbles will disappear within a few days or so, larger bubbles can be removed by poking a pin through the surface and smoothing out the air with your fingers or squeegee. Any debris under the vinlyl when applied can be noticed and may appear to be a bubble, these can not be fixed as it is caused by a piece of dirt between decal and surface.

How do I remove a decal?

To remove decals the vinyl can be warmed up with a heat gun or hair dryer, be careful if removing from paint of to much heat. Using something with a sharp edge, exacto blade, squeegee or even your fingernail. Once the vinyl is warm,do not overheat and be careful of to much heat if removing from paint, get a piece of the decal lifted and gently pull vinyl off. Once the decal is removed you must remove any adhesive left over with adhesive remover or thinners.
